Meet Tukuyu, a deeply warming, spiced aroma inspired by our travels to Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley. The remote and gloriously isolated Jongomera camp is one of Jayne’s favourite places to get off the beaten track and connect with nature.
“I’M JUST BACK FROM A LONG AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE THROUGH THE BUSH. I’VE HAD MY BREATH TAKEN AWAY BY THE LANDSCAPE AND SIGHTINGS OF SABLE ANTELOPE, YOUNG ELEPHANTS PLAY FIGHTING, A LONESOME LION SPRAWLED OUT ASLEEP IN THE GRASS AND MONGOOSE DARTING IN AND OUT OF THEIR BURROWS. IT’S SO INCREDIBLY PEACEFUL NOW.
THE SKY IS VAST AND FULL OF SPECTACULAR ORANGES AND PINKS AND THE STARS ARE COMING OUT. AROUND US, THE HORIZON IS STUDDED WITH SILHOUETTES OF ANCIENT BAOBAB TREES. WE’RE IN THE CAMP GATHERED AROUND A GLOWING OPEN FIRE IN THE DRIED UP RIVERBED, SIPPING THE LOCAL TEA. THE TASTE IS SWEET, AMBERY AND SLIGHTLY SPICY AS THE FRAGRANT WOOD FIRE CRACKLES AND FLARES, GIVING OFF ITS RESINOUS AROMAS. I’M FEELING AN OVERWHELMING SENSE OF UTTER CONTENTMENT AND EASE… I’M TIRED AND RELAXED,THEN BED UNDER A THATCHED ROOF. THIS PLACE HOLDS ME PERFECTLY, LIKE A NATURAL COCOON. I WISH I COULD STAY HERE FOR EVER.”

A note of precious white jasmine flower is at the heart of Tukuyu. Floral, sensual and fully rounded, jasmine is known as the ‘king of oils’ due to its rarity.
The resin of the boswellia tree is one of history’s oldest known perfume ingredients. Its oil gives our base an exotic, golden quality
Grown locally in Tanzania, the rock-rose produces a dark and aromatic resin. Known for its relaxing benefits, the note has delicate, dry, floral facets with amberous depths.
Amberwood is one of the star aroma notes in our Tukuyu fragrance. Found at the base of the scent, its warm, slightly sweet quality has an earthiness which grounds and comforts the senses.
